This site plan is a composite map drawn from the data collected at the Hoge site in southwestern Virginia, a site that is assumed to be a Monacan village. Each of the dots on the map represents a post mold, the trace remains left in the soil by a wooden post that had been embedded in the ground. These molds then form outlines of buildings that the posts had originally supported. Overlapping rings likely indicate the destruction and rebuilding of structures, rather than intersecting, contemporaneous structures.
